Susana woke up ready to go and was visibly excited and nervous; Foster was willing and compliant if not enthusiastic. I sent them off with Elliott to avoid the drama that I know would ensue if I was the one to drop them off, and that seemed to be successful. At least, I didn't hear otherwise! They came home on the early gondola (they get out at 12 and Elliott gets out at 1:30pm so they come home on different buses).
No one had much to say about their experience, so I’m taking “no news is good news.” I did get this much:
From Foster:
“There’s not many toys”
“They didn’t teach me much Spanish yet.”
Susana was mainly disappointed because we didn’t know today happened to be her day to wear her PE uniform…so the big opportunity to wear the full regalia was missed for this week.
She said she had a “test” in her class to see who had the most brothers and she won.
The biggest deal for Susana was that afterschool, she got to go to Alexia’s dance class with her, no less wearing one of Alexia's dance outfits, all of which greatly overshadowed anything that happened at school today. She’s already announced that she wants to go every time Alexia goes to dance…we’ll see.
Elliott, on the other hand, had a hard day. He lost the new watch that Ems gave him right before we left as his early birthday present and he is crushed. He really prized that watch and came home sobbing "you're not supposed to lose a gift!" He also had PE as the last class of the day today and apparently had an experience that seemed something like boot camp. He wasn't in the group that had the "nice" teacher and got to play games.
It took him quite a while to recover from the disappointments of the day, but eventually he got over it by playing freely on the keyboard which is conveniently available downstairs and then by getting totally absorbed in the book he is reading (The Name of This Book is Secret). And he has cheered up looking forward to his birthday tomorrow, knowing I have brought a Lego present (although he maintains he shouldn’t have to go to school on his birthday).
Onward ho…Karen
